Rick is a proud South Carolina native, born in Greenville and raised just outside of Mauldin. After spending several years in Laurens County, he and his family made their home in the beautiful Lake Jocassee area of Oconee County. This connection to his roots and community is at the heart of everything he does at Gilliland Insurance.
After several years in the corporate insurance world, working for publicly traded companies focused on shareholder profits, Rick became disillusioned with an industry more concerned with bottom lines than the people they served. He was increasingly frustrated by the pressure to prioritize corporate agendas and, at times, take advantage of customers. Refusing to compromise his values, Rick made the bold decision to step away from the corporate world, decline a new contract, and pursue a path where he could have a more significant impact. This led to the founding of
Gilliland Insurance, a private, independent agency where Rick could truly represent the needs of the people, not the interests of shareholders.
With a wealth of knowledge and experience in the insurance industry, Rick now focuses on offering the kind of personalized, thoughtful service he believes every client deserves.
